Tom Cruise being tempted by the class system?
Hmmmm, not sure if I get this. Tom Cruise is a medical doctor who seems to know nothing about sex. Then his wife tells him about this guy she saw that she thought was hot. So Tom gets all excited about sex too. Then he goes to this masquerade sex party where they say that they'll kill him and his family if he tells anyone what he saw there (he didn't see anything there!). Then one of the masquerade party people turns up dead. Then he tells his wife and they decide to just forget the whole thing.
OK, I obviusly missed something here. I'll have to check with IMDB.
The best explanation that I see at IMDB is that this movie isn't about sex at all. It's about a class system. Tom and Nicole get invited to a Christmas party but they don't know anyone there because they're all super-rich but Tom & Nicole are just ordinary rich. They get tempted at the party (sex wise but we're supposed to understand that that's just a metaphor for class wise). Tom decides to crash the world of the super-rich. He gets caught and is told to stay in his place. So, it wasn't anything he saw at the orgy it was simply that he wasn't supposed to be there (for class reasons). If that's true then Kubrick sure wasted a lot of time and effort because not one in a million is gonna get that outta this movie and even if they do............so what?
