I've avoided this Rohmer guy because I seem to remember (from back in the 70s) that he was the leader of the dull/pretentious group.
In this one, the idle rich lounge about and tell us all about their airheaded motivations for the things they do (like why they are just lounging about). I believe my first impression was correct.
