Movie #1392 (#204 this year): The Life Of Jimmy Dolan(1933, Archie Mayo)
Archie Mayo doesn't often disappoint and this one is no exception. Oh, some of that orphan kid sweetness and light stuff is not my cuppa tea but otherwise it's OK.
Cast is a real who's who with Douglas Fairbanks, Loretta Young, Aline MacMahon, John Wayne, Mickey Rooney, Clarence Muse, Lyle "Plan 9" Talbot and Edward Arnold.
And you can tell that it's pre-code because Fairbanks commits murder and gets away with it.
Best lines:
"You shoulda lived during the time of George Washington, Jefferson Davis and Sherlock Holmes"
"Why?"
"Because then you'd be dead"
