Book #387: Vengeance Man (1966, Dan J Marlowe)

Read everything by Jim Thompson? Not to worry, here's Dan J Marlowe with The Vengeance Man. The only thing different between Marlowe and Thompson is that besides being completely amoral, Thompson's best characters had a nice streak of insanity as well. So, it's just standard grade Thompson but that's still pretty darn good.

TV Episode #5: Route 66 - The Strengthening Angel (1960, Arthur Hiller)

This was a suprise. This is a very well directed episode (especially all the jail scenes - this guy does wonders with bars) so I was anxious to see the director's name. Arthur Hiller! I thought Arthur Hiller was a hack. You coulda knocked me over with a feather. Have I been wrong about Hiller all this time?
